This woman came to therapy with strong needs for someone to believe in and to believe in her. She felt that she had found a potential champion. Someone who would back her up and support her beliefs. But she had not told everything; she kept two parts of the secret hidden deep within for fear she would not be believed or supported. Wanting to tell and yet holding back. She could tell that the therapist knew she was upset and withholding. But she wouldn’t tell. It was as if she told she would not have a reason to be, to be there, to be anywhere. Was she frightened? Of course, but she lied and said no. It seemed as if she was just filling in the blanks. She brought her hand to her neck and knew that she had to leave, letting go of the hope that she had and wanted to find. She thought she might come back.
