| Paonioni - To Struggle : 30 x 40:
She reported that she wasn’t going to be able to sleep at this point in her life. It was like her hunger-once the peak moment passed, her appetite diminished and she could simply do without the unconscious respite, nourishment for her body, … what difference did it make? Her metabolism and emotional energy shifted into overdrive, calling up energy from some other source. If she’d gone to bed early she might have slept through the night. But now her ability to let her unconscious mind wrestle with her problems had reached its expiration point. Awake this long, she was consigned to further wakefulness and thought of school… where she learned to read, write, add and subtract and also life’s subtler but more important lessons: how to speak and listen, how to lie to deceive, to whisper, to hold hands, to kiss, to insist and evade, to make love, to marry, to honor and again betray and how she needed to share her thoughts to understand them.
